I felt very inspired after listening to the “How I Built This Podcast” with Alice Waters, the founder of Chez Panisse Restaurant (and arguably of the seasonal, local, sustainable, and organic food movement). We’ve had a copy of her cookbook, “The Art of Simple Food“, for years, and I always […]
Recipes adapted to leverage natural sweeteners and avoid processed sugars.
The best thing about this recipe is that it produces more curry sauce than you need for dinner; save the leftovers and serve for lunch the next day with a fried egg and a scoop of rice. The recipe for turmeric coconut curry sauce comes from “Run Fast. Cook Fast. […]
It’s October, and that means Pumpkin Spice everything! I was craving something sweet and spicy, and did a little happy dance when I saw a recipe for Pumpkin Spice Superhero Muffins in my favorite cookbook “Run Fast. Cook Fast. Eat Slow“. I made a few changes to keep these yummy […]
Since we’re on vacation, we’re not doing much cooking this week. The meal plan includes a few favorites we prepared before leaving, including an improved recipe for Mango Bread. I’m also excited to include a link to a new General Goodness blog post where I share three great recipes for […]
I really noticed the changing of seasons this week; not because it got colder (we live in Northern California, after all!) but because it was dark at dinner time. You’ll notice that a few of our meal photo’s don’t look great; I’m not a professional photographer, and while I’ll try […]
This salmon dish is one of our family go-to’s because it’s easy and delicious. The recipe comes from “Run Fast. Cook Fast. Eat Slow.“, a cookbook I’ll be referencing a lot this fall while I train for a half-marathon (I’m trying to avoid getting hangry by having lots of filling […]
This recipe comes from Julia Moskin in The New York Times. It’s a simple meal, inspired by Italian techniques. I left the chicken to marinate while I prepped the potatoes. My teenager is responsible for washing the dishes after dinner; he was definitely psyched that this was a one-pot meal! […]
The Whole Life Challenge is back! Or more accurately, we’re participating in the fall WLC for the next six weeks. This week’s meal plan is very Paleo (with one exception at the end of this post), and includes many of our favorites from previous Challenges. Two new recipes that I’m […]
I wanted to have fun this week, and also make weeknight dinners as kid-friendly as possible without boring me or my husband. I brainstormed three theme burgers, and I’m really happy with how they were received (e.g. eaten without complaint). It wasn’t all burgers, all the time, though. In between, […]
This is an Indian-inspired condiment which pairs perfectly with Curried Turkey Burgers. It would also be awesome with our Gluten-Free Flatbread; of course you can enjoy it with pita, naan, or tortilla chips. It’s super-fresh, and perfectly balances sweet mango with spicy jalapeno and fresh ginger.
