I really noticed the changing of seasons this week; not because it got colder (we live in Northern California, after all!) but because it was dark at dinner time. You’ll notice that a few of our meal photo’s don’t look great; I’m not a professional photographer, and while I’ll try […]
We adapted this veggie side dish from a recipe by David Tanis in The New York Times, and in our humble opinions, it’s perfect. Simple, fast, and versatile – serve it with fish, pasta, rice, meat – we’re definitely making it again!
The Whole Life Challenge is back! Or more accurately, we’re participating in the fall WLC for the next six weeks. This week’s meal plan is very Paleo (with one exception at the end of this post), and includes many of our favorites from previous Challenges. Two new recipes that I’m […]
This is an Indian-inspired condiment which pairs perfectly with Curried Turkey Burgers. It would also be awesome with our Gluten-Free Flatbread; of course you can enjoy it with pita, naan, or tortilla chips. It’s super-fresh, and perfectly balances sweet mango with spicy jalapeno and fresh ginger.
Remoulade is a sauce invented in France that is usually aioli- or mayonnaise-based. In this recipe from Alice Hart’s “Vegetarian” cookbook, the sauce is made lighter by use of vegan yogurt. We had half of a celery root left in our refrigerator from our Simmered Chicken and Vegetables recipe that […]
As I look at this week’s meal plan, it’s obvious that I had Autumn on my mind. It was inevitable, with both of our sons back in school and the sun setting earlier every evening. Our kitchen smelled like a cornucopia of delicious spices like cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom. We […]
The summer Whole Life Challenge is over! Beginning next week, we’ll likely add beans and white potatoes back into our diet, a bit more corn, and a peek of coconut sugar, honey, or maple syrup. For this week, most of our recipes are Paleo with a few Vegan options. The […]
This is the last week of the summer Whole Life Challenge! We tried some new things including grilled pineapple, dairy-free Chicken Tikka Masala, raw brussels sprouts salad, and a peach blueberry Paleo crumble. This was also our last week of summer; school starts for both boys and we’re all excited. […]
Our late summer farm baskets have included beautiful summer squash, and we’ve been having fun finding news ways to serve it. Thanks to Paleo Running Momma for the original recipe for these fritters, which include crumbled bacon!
This is a great back-to-school recipe because your kids can help chop veggies, and the chili can simmer on the stove top during homework or bath time. The spiciness of this chili is variable by adding more or less chili powder to your taste. We added slices of cool avocado […]
